Genesee County United Way conducted its first Campaign Cabinet meeting June 22 for the 2012 campaign.
Jamie Rada, Genesee County Regional Director said "we have determined it best that the campaign returns to the grassroots that worked so well in the past and continues to work for the Greater Rochester area and surrounding regions."
The purpose of the cabinet is to help lead and motivate the community through a successful campaign. Peter Carpino, CEO of the United Way of Greater Rochester, led the discussion at the initial meeting of the cabinet.
This year there are 10 key divisions led by community leaders. Non-Profit and Health Care will be led by Pam LaGrou, GCASA Director of Communications. Public Sector will be led by Teresa Morasco, town of Batavia clerk/tax collector. Kristen Goetz, store manager of Tops Markets in Le Roy, will direct the Commercial and Retail Division. Small Business will be jointly chaired by Dan Fischer, president/owner of WBTA and Steve Hawley, owner of The Insurance Center.
Diane Torcello Bank of Castile Branch Manager and Dave Cecere Tompkins Insurance Center Vice President, will be helping with new account development and Gregg McAllister Bank of Castile vice president of Marketing Communications, will oversee Leadership Gifts. Joan Stevens, Salvation Army case worker and retired school teacher, will assist with Direct Mail accounts.
Business and Industry One consists of $5,000 plus accounts and will be led by William Fritts Jr., managing branch partner of Lawley Genesee. Business and Industry Two consists of accounts less than $5,000 and will be led by Paul Battagli, CEO of Freed Maxick and Battaglia and Dan Harvey Graham Corporation director of human resources.
''We are still looking for a leader to champion the education division,'' Rada said. ''Each leader will be work with United Way to grow the campaign within their division. With the increased community support we have received over the past few years we are hoping for a successful 2012 campaign.''
